For people interested in print media of GGXX Accent Core Plus R, I’ve compiled the articles that Arcadia has run on +R for 2012. It was featured in the last five issues of the year, from August to December. The September issue has an interview with Daisuke Ishiwatari, as well as the players Kenchan(Millia), Ogawa(Eddie), Dogura(Robo), Koichi(I-No), and Inoue(Order Sol). The November issue is the one that has the hilariously early tier list with less than half the cast represented. Credit goes to Ramtieger on Underground Gamer for purchasing and scanning all the magazines.

Now that the New Year has started, I have updated the 2012 Videos page with the rest of last year’s videos. As you can also see on the top sidebar, I’ve also started the 2013 Videos page which doesn’t really have much at the moment.

Tonight, a-cho will be holding their first GGXX AC+R 3on3 tournament! It has a subtitle of the Chonari Cup, so maybe he’ll enter in a team by himself. a-cho usually streams special events on their ustream channel, so check that or their Twitter account throughout the night to see if they’re live.

In another move that was somewhat anticipated by many people in the community, Arc System Works has announced a new revision for Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R. It will be Ver 1.10 and will be released in arcades in January. A partial list of the changes is available on the official website, and Nikki from Hitconfirm has a translation available here. As expected, Kliff and Zappa have received a number of nerfs.

Hope everyone had a nice Christmas! The IKEG Cup in Ikebukuro GIGO is coming up, so here’s hoping it will have a stream.

Arc System Works has finally announced the release date for the PS3/XBox360 AC+R patch to be in Spring of 2013! As many people in the community anticipated, the +R patch will also add extra features to the netplay that were curiously missing from the original release like real lobbies, match spectate, and continuous search for ranked matches. Unfortunately, the official statement mentions nothing about improving the actual netcode, but here’s hoping that gets included as well.

I’ve been keeping the 2012 Videos page up to date recently with all the footage that has been released. There were two pretty big Japanese tournaments that happened on the 15th in the Kansai and Kanto regions. A lot of strong players came out to these, so it’s an excellent watch. The Kanto region had a Mikado 5on5 tourney, and the Kansai region had a 5on5 tourney and a Red vs White team tourney with Woshige, Dogura, and N-O as team captains in Magical Alps.

2013 will be a landmark year for Arc System Works as it will be their 25th anniversary, as well as the 15th anniversary for the flagship Guilty Gear series and the 5th anniversary for Blazblue. To commemorate this event, ArcSys has announced a large national tournament tentatively titled the Arc Revolution Cup. It will feature the three main ArcSys fighting games currently out: Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R, Blazblue Chrono Phantasma, and Persona 4 The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena. The exact format hasn’t been announced yet, but qualifiers for the tournament will be taking place from February 16th to April 21st. Qualifying players/teams will then be able to play in the final event, which will take place sometime in May.

Similar in vein to the Arc Cup but not quite so large scale, Ikebukuro GIGO arcade will be hosting an ArcSys themed tournament on December 30th, the day before New Year’s Eve! It will be titled the IKEG Cup, and will feature the 4 games GGXXAC+R, BBCP, P4U, and Magical Beat! If you haven’t heard of Magical Beat, it’s a really neat tile matching game(like Tetris and Puyo Puyo) with rhythm game elements. Anywho, the tournament format for all games will be 2on2, and you can find more information on the arcade’s Twitter account.

The January 2013 issue of Arcadia magazine has a GGXX AC+R section in it featuring interviews with a top player from the Kansai and Kanto regions. The Kansai player they got was Dogura, and the Kanto player was Koichi. They were also asked to make their own character ranking list:
Koichi’s list
S Kliff Faust Zappa
A Millia Chipp Jam Anji Axl I-No
B Eddie Potemkin Baiken Johnny Dizzy Slayer A.B.A Order-Sol
C Sol Ky May Venom Testament Bridget Robo
D Justice

Dogura’s list
S Faust Chipp Zappa
A Millia Baiken Jam Dizzy Slayer
B Sol May Eddie Potemkin Axl Johnny I-No Robo Order-Sol Kliff
C Ky Anji Venom Testament A.B.A
D Bridget Justice

A fair amount of disagreement between these two!

US PSN GGAC out

After almost a month of delay, the US finally gets its PSN release of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus! I had already given up waiting last week and gotten the Japanese version for almost double the cost. It was just a few minutes before Yamanaka announced the US release date too! Anyway, if you’re on PSN and you’d like to play me, my PSN ID is sasugapsyblade and I’m in the West Coast of the US. Hope to have some good matches!

A user on Dustloop has created a very useful tool to view GG hitboxes! So far, it works with the PC version of GGXX #Reload and the demul and PCSX2 versions of Accent Core.

Earlier last week, the Mikado crew consisting of Inoue, Nage, and Satou showed up as special guests on the Godsgarden stream show Kao TV! They played several netplay matches and also had a couple of sets against each other. Even though it was clear that they are a bit rusty in vanilla Accent Core(due to +R), this is still great footage of Order Sol, Faust, and Johnny, as these three are masters of their character.
